Remember Gale? My sister who originally started this blog with me? Well, this past Christmas, she gave me the nicest and coolest stocking stuffer. It was a mason jar full of Hershey’s Minis. But she wrapped each chocolate with a piece of paper inside of which she had written an inspiration. So, every time I treated myself with a sweet, I was also treated with an inspiration to carry me through the day.
I loved the idea so much, I decided to share it with you…with her blessing, of course. I made a couple of little changes, but the wonderful concept came from her. Thank you, Gale!
For one thing, I put the candies in a smaller jar, so it could be given as a party favor as well as a thoughtful gift. And because it uses fewer candies, I arranged them standing up, so you could see the wrappers. To make the jar even more gift like, you could tie a ribbon around the lid…something I actually forgot to do when I had Sunny do the shoot.
Just be sure to tell the recipients about the inspirations, or label your jar as such, so they don’t eat the candies and toss the wrappers without noticing you’re also feeding their souls.
You can use inspirations that others have written, or you can make up your own. My example inspiration was printed on the computer, but Gale hand wrote hers, which makes it more personal. It’s a nice touch because whenever I have a piece of candy, I think about her too.
You’ll need:
- Hershey’s Minis
- Colorful paper for wraps
- Small jar
Cut your colorful piece of paper one and three-eighths of an inch wide by about three inches. Hand write or computer print an inspirational saying on the inside. Rewrap the candy and glue the new wrapper in place.
Fill the jar. Tie a ribbon around the lid. Give to anyone you want to inspire.
