Earlier this month, the grandkids celebrated their fourth birthday with Disney’s Moana theme for their party. Every detail made the guests feel like they were in the tropics with Moana and Maui. A giant colorful reef served as a backdrop to the party decor as turtles and fish floated above the patio. Palm trees with brown balloon coconuts filled the kitchen while life-size figures of Moana and Maui looked on. Even the appetizers bore symbols from movie.
Sunny gave each guest adorable candy leis tied with ribbon and plumerias to take home as party favors. She hung them on a branch, much like the lei vendors in the islands do.
The Cookie Mix Jars featured here were given by me to the families who attended. They all came from out of town and it was my way of saying thank you for coming. I made Makena a dress out of Moana fabric for the party, so in keeping with the Moana theme, I topped each jar with the leftover fabric, tied it with green ribbon, and embellished the bow with shells.
Each jar was layered with the dry ingredients for different cookies, and I attached recipe cards for baking directions. Usually, all that was needed to make the cookies were the wet ingredients, mainly butter and vanilla. My sister-in-law said the jars themselves looked like a piece of art. You know what? They actually do look like art.
These jars contained Cowboy Cookies, Chocolate Almond Biscotti, Crackled Brownie Bites, and Oatmeal Raisin Crisps. But you can use any cookie recipe. This would be a great way to share your favorites. And you don’t even need to bake them!
