Jupiter Cones
I thought I’d introduce my site with a really big bite…my Jupiter Cones. I call them that because they are out of this world! That might be a big statement, but wait until you taste them.
And they’re probably my biggest bite, but that’s what makes them all the more yummier. I made my first one for a happy hour get together with friends. I served two flavors for dessert and one my friends said, “wow, I think you’re on to something.”
We all grew up eating those drumstick cones, but what happened to them? Did they get smaller, or because we got bigger, did they just seem smaller? Well, one of the things I wanted my Jupiter Cones to be was BIG. And they have to be because they are jammed with things we love. It’s like eating a few desserts all packed into one cone.
Right now, I have four different flavors, but I plan a series of ten, which I will post on our blog as I make them. Try them all for your family or next get together. I know winter is here, but ice cream is seasonless, right? Anyway, let me tease you with the first four Jupiter flavors. Then you can pull up the recipes and see how they’re made.
Coffee/Brownie
This is like having a brownie with a cup of coffee. It’s coffee ice cream packed with big brownie chunks and fudge ripple, topped with a chocolate shell and covered with pecans.
Lemon Meringue Pie
Sweet and tangy in every bite. This has vanilla ice cream, shortbread cookie “crust” inside with tart lemon curd and marshmallow crème, topped with a white chocolate shell and sprinkled with crushed lemon drops.
Mint Chip Cookie
For the mint lovers. It’s mint chocolate chip ice cream combined with chocolate chip cookies, Andes Mint pieces and hot fudge ripple, topped with a chocolate shell and covered with peanuts and Andes Mint pieces.
Apple Pie a la Mode
The all American combo. French vanilla ice cream oozing with apple pie filling and shortbread cookie “crust” inside, capped with a chunky cinnamon streusel.
Hello World
Hello everyone and welcome to Big Bang Bites. When I entertain, I'm always looking for fun and delicious foods to impress my guests with, but more importantly, I like them to go home with their tummies full, and that flattering question…can I have the recipe for that?
My mom was a great cook. One of the things I learned from her entertaining style was the importance of presentation. It had to be a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds. Her party buffet was a portrait of her cooking skills and as I follow in her footsteps, I hope you’ll find our recipes delectable and picture perfect for your parties. I want your guests to go home raving about your food and telling all your friends about your magic in the kitchen.
Born and raised in Hawaii, little tea sandwiches and those crackers and cheese boards were never the standard of my party menu. Appetizers were and still are for me, hearty mouthfuls.
That’s where my blog name comes from because you won’t find tidbits here. So, my mission is to share favorite creations of my own and variations of comestibles I grew up with. And because I don’t like people to go home empty handed, I’ll also share party favor ideas that will leave your guests waiting with bated breath for your next party.
Right now my appies and treats itinerary is somewhat limited. It’s just that I was so anxious to launch my site, I thought, what the heck, let’s just hit the ground running. But I will be adding recipes regularly, so I’ll be jammed with great ideas in no time.
Thanks for visiting and enjoy!
