Whatever the occasion, kids aren’t the only ones who like to take home party favors. Adults love them too, because it’s nice to have a memento of the wonderful time you’ve just spent with your friends or family. These are perfect to send your guests on their way at the end of an afternoon tea party.
This is also a great gift idea for any occasion if you have a bunch of people you just want to give a little something to. You can also change the theme for different holidays. For Christmas, I use my holiday greeting cards as the top enclosure. Everyone always raves about the card and the gift of an opportunity to take time to relax and enjoy a cup of tea. There’s something very soothing about having a cup of tea. It makes everything better!
White Chocolate Dipped Shortbread Cookies:
1 cup butter, softened
¼ cup sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 bag white chocolate chips
2 drops red food coloring
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter and sugar. Stir in flour and vanilla.
Roll dough ½-inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut with a 1-inch cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 to12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool completely on a wire rack.
Microwave chocolate chips in a bowl for 1 minute. Stir until chips are melted. Add 2 drops of red food coloring and stir. Dip the tops of the cookie in the melted chocolate. Shake off excess chocolate in a circular motion to create a swirl.
To make the flower for the tea bag, cut 2 circles out of card stock the size of a nickel. Using a hole puncher, punch out 10 dots for each flower. Glue the dots to the edge of one circle to form petals. Trim the tea bag tag so that the flower covers the tag completely. Glue the flower to the tag. Glue the second circle to conceal the tea bag tag. Cut a 2½-inch x 4-inch rectangle out of card stock. Fold it in half to create the top enclosure of the bag.
Fill a 6-inch x 4-inch cellophane bag with 3 cookies and a tea bag. Allow the flower to dangle on the outside of the bag. Fold the top of the bag over. Place the enclosure over the top of the bag and staple in place.
